CAPS 2010 Live Auction Items
1) Fund-a-Need: New Atascadero
High School Band Uniforms
Fund-a-Need
is the most important auction item that we present during our annual “Evening for Education.” This year CAPS has
chosen to raise funds to replace the aging High School Band Uniforms. Fund-A-Need is YOUR chance to contribute any amount
that you feel inspired to pledge to ONE outstanding cause for our schools!
Our AHS Band students perform throughout the autumn, at public events, in parades, and at
football games. They also spend their school year travelling within California competing against other marching bands. The
current band uniforms were purchased in 1984 and are not only outdated, but are terribly worn out, frayed, and stained. They
have been patched, re-sewn, repaired with electrical tape and de-stained more times than anyone can remember! This Fund-A-Need
is an INVESTMENT opportunity toward a very long lasting need. New uniforms will directly benefit hundreds of students, not
to mention the indirect benefit of an entire student population and community being proud of the sharpest dressed band for
100 miles around! It is time to inspire the elementary and junior high student musicians and to reward the high school band
for their years of dedication and hard work to our entire community. It is time for new uniforms!

16) Fiji Adventure - A Week in
Paradise!
Get away from it
all and live like a native in this rustic home on Vanua Levu, the second largest of the 333 Fiji islands.
This one-room 600 sq ft backpacker’s bure (a traditional thatched roof cottage), sitting on 11⁄2 acres of beachfront,
has a queen sized bed with 4 additional twin beds on a wrap around screened-in porch. Fans in the bure will keep the tropical
air moving, keeping you cool. Amenities include a full kitchen (including microwave, rice cooker, blender, etc), a bathroom
with shower, and a washing machine in a shed behind the bure, with a clothesline for freshly dried clothes. Enjoy banana and
papaya fruit trees, visit with the gracious and friendly native Fijian locals on the coral reef beach just outside your door,
and wake each morning to the picturesque aqua blue ocean. The beauties of the location are in the coconut palms, beach grass
ending in sand and water, bright tropical foliage, fantastic snorkeling and scuba diving, and the gentle warm waves breaking
on the sandy beach. (Not a surf spot!) What to do when not at your bure? At low tide, you might snorkel or dive in exposed
coral lagoons. At high tide, there are several hundred yards of a shallow 2-6+ foot deep pool to paddle, play and relax in.
Snorkel gear is available for use, or you can spend a day exploring one of the many beautiful waterfall hikes nearby. But
then again, maybe you’re ready for a little local excursion: A bus ride to town costs 60 cents and takes about 5 minutes,
providing a great opportunity if you like exploring and getting to live like a true local. So what is Fiji? An incredible
place for a family vacation... an adventurous couples retreat... and a place where everyone is on FIJI TIME, which means...don’t
rush!
Airfare to the main island of
Viti Levu, in Fiji, via Air Pacific, direct from LAX, costs approximately $1,200 per person, round trip and is not included
in this package. To get to your island of Vanua Levu you must take a one hour flight for an additional $100 pp or take an
8 hour boat ride which costs considerably less.
The home’s owners, Atascaderans Troy and Debbie Hart, will be happy to connect you with local people for
snorkel lessons, help set up an opportunity to meet the village chief, and even have a traditional lovo feast cooked just
for you. Whatever you decide to do during your once-in-a-lifetime Fiji getaway, it is guaranteed to be memorable, and 100%
more enjoyable than any Survivor episode has ever been!
